Physiotherapy

To get you back to a stronger, pain-free life...

At Excel we offer a full suite of Physiotherapy treatments to treat pain and injury. As Chartered Physiotherapists we use only results-proven, evidence-based and up-to-date techniques including soft tissue massage, mobilisations, dry needling, taping and stretching.

It’s about personalised care… No two injuries or pain challenges are the same, so your care is completely individualised to your needs, following a full personal assessment.

It’s about maintaining good health… We always couple your care with guided specific exercises to help strengthen any weak or injured areas. These exercises are designed to alleviate symptoms while also helping to prevent the pain from recurring in the future.

It’s about simplicity… We will always be clear about what your problem is and clearly explain our proposed treatment plan.

Our highly-qualified Physiotherapists can provide treatments to

  • Reduce and eliminate pain.
  • Prevent recurrence of pain.
  • Improve your movement.
  • Better your balance to prevent falls.
  • Help manage issues that can come with age.

  • Specialists in Sports Injury

As an athlete, let us help you get back to your best as soon as possible – through detailed Sports Rehabilitation Physiotherapy.

All Excel Physiotherapists have played sport at a high level and are passionate about it. We understand the requirements of different sports and will ensure that your Sports Injury Physiotherapy is specific and detailed in line with your particular activity and your own performance goals. To help you perform at your optimum level, we promote injury prevention principles and education to help insure against injury recurrence.

  • Dry Needling for Effective Pain Relief

This form of physiotherapy involves the insertion of a very fine needle through the skin to stimulate a muscular trigger point. It is a highly effective form of soft tissue treatment and is supported by evidence that it can reduce pain, improve range of motion and provide relief from associated nerve symptoms and headaches.

  • Customised Orthotics

Together with a detailed physiotherapy evaluation and treatment, we are qualified to prescribe orthotics to correct the biomechanics of the foot and lower limb, when necessary. All Excel Physiotherapists have post-graduate Orthotics training and can prescribe everything from simple off-the-shelf insole solutions, to customised casted orthotics. Orthotics can be prescribed for several conditions including heel pain, flat feel, shin splints and low back pain.

Shockwave Therapy (SWT)

We are proud to bring you the benefit of this non-invasive, non-surgical, evidence-based treatment. Shockwave Therapy (SWT) is a quick, safe and affordable way of treating many painful Musculoskeletal conditions. It involves applying a series of energetic shockwaves (not electricial) to the area that requires treatment.

SWT stimulates and speeds up the healing process allowing your body to repair itself. This therapy has also been shown to be a highly effective treatment for patients who have not responded to conservative manual therapies.

SWT research studies have shown an approximately 80% success rate once all underlying issues are addressed. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has received many clinical studies and has endorsed its effectiveness.

Shockwave Therapy, in conjunction with Physiotherapy and an appropriate exercise programme prescribed by your health professional, has been shown to help with:

  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow
  • Planta Fasciitis
  • Calcaneal Heel Spurs
  • Calcific Tendonitis and Bursitis of the Shoulder
  • Supraspinatus Tendinopathy
  • Patellar Tendinopathy
  • Stress Fracture
  • Greater Trochanter Pain at the Hip
  • Trigger Points
