Physiotherapy
Chartered physiotherapy treatment utilises the most appropriate and up to date treatment techniques including soft tissue massage, mobilisations, dry needling, taping and stretching. This is always coupled with guided specific exercises to strengthen any weak or injured areas, to assist in alleviating your symptoms and help prevent any future recurrences.
Each client at Excel Physiotherapy receives a detailed diagnosis including the main findings from your assessment as well as a comprehensive physiotherapy plan to assist with your recovery. This is sent to you following your session along with videos of any exercises/stretches shown during your consultation.
Sports Injury
Our physiotherapists have all played sport at a high level, have a passion for sport and understand the requirements of a wide range of sports. We believe that sports physiotherapy needs to be very specific and detailed and in line with the athletes’ goals to return to his/her sport in order to perform at their optimal level and prevent recurrence. At Excel we promote injury prevention principles, education and provide detailed rehabilitation to get the athlete back to their best as soon as possible.
Pilates
Pilates is a hugely beneficial adjunct to physiotherapy to help facilitate core stability, soft tissue flexibility, muscle endurance and general fitness. Each individual is assessed prior to undertaking a Pilates program so that it can be tailored to each clients specific needs. At Excel we utilise the Pilates reformer to achieve excellent results and apply Pilates as a service regularly for low back pain, pre and post natal exercise, sports injury prevention/rehab and general fitness. Dry Needling
Dry Needling involves the insertion of a very fine needle through the skin to stimulate a muscular trigger point. Dry needling is a very effective form of soft tissue treatment with evidence supporting that it can reduce pain and improve range of motion. Other positive effects of Dry Needling include relief from associated nerve symptoms and headaches. At Excel we find that using Dry Needling in combination with other treatment modalities including massage, mobilisations and exercise appears to achieve the best results.
Orthotic Prescription &Â Biomechanical Assessments
Orthotics are insoles prescribed for individuals to correct the biomechanics of the foot and lower limb. At Excel physiotherapy our therapists have post graduate training completed to assess the individuals need for orthotics. We can prescribe simple off the shelf insole solutions to customised casted orthotics.
Typically we offer this service in conjunction with a detailed physiotherapy evaluation and treatment. Conditions we commonly treat with orthotics include:
- Plantar Fasciitis (heel pain)
- Achilles Tendinopathy
- Patello-femoral Joint Pain (Anterior knee pain)
- Pes Planus (Flat feet)
- Metatarsalgia (pain in the ball of foot)
- Shin Splints
- Low back pain
